So Near, Yet So Far

Eventhough I knew from the very start
That thy love is given, but not to me;
Even if it will only break my heart
I am still hoping that someday you'll see.

When you say to her the words "I love you"
To me, I know those words you'll never say
Still I pretend, change the angle of view
Illusions I made up, though it's cliché

I can't see anyone but you, my dear
My heart silently cries from deep within
Say you like someone, "It's me!" I endear
Pain that's aching but I just keep it in.

It hurts, it's so deep, it cuts like a knife
But wounds heal and I'll go on with my life.

I love that you will go on with your life. they are not worth the anguish. Your passion is clear, your thoughts are beautiful, if they are not returned, fly on butterfly... your fish is in the sea, trust me. Excellent emotional write. I loved it. Ann

A beautifully written melancholy sonnet, Eunice, it is always painful to love someone and they have no idea. I wrote a poem "So Close Yet Out of Reach" last year on the same theme. All my best. John

Heartfelt and real, Eunice. It made me sad.
