So Much For Swagger

Joe clicked his heels
   Clapped his hands
Let out a squeal
   He was in demand

The most popular girl
   In the entire school
Had him carry her books
   His friends just drooled

Back in class
   Joe's on Cloud Nine
His girl, a beauty
   So very fine...

Just then she had another
   Carry her books--
Alas, Joe's bubble had burst
So much for swagger, and as for good looks...

G'day Gershon … sort of a bit like pride comes before a fall. Just another lesson in life that can be hard - thanks Gershon - Lindsay

The more books they carry, the harder they fall, or something like that. Thanks, Lindsay. :) gw

Poor Joe. I can just see his face and watch his swagger go rapidly downhill. Good luck in the contest.

Don't feel sorry for Joe. He'll latch onto another pretty face soon enough. :) gw

Well written! This brought a smile to my face! I was gonna enter this contest but decided against it! My idea of swagger is not what others think so I believe mine would have been lost in all of these wonderful writes!Good luck my friend!;)

Exactly... Now who's more shallow-- Joe or his girl? That's a close call, methinks. What say you? :) gw

Yeah, poor guy... Actually, I can't tell who's more shallow, Joe or 'his girl.' What say you? Thanks, gw
