So Many Words

It’s nice to be cared for, But sometimes it’s nicer to care. And I did for you. Not the way you said you did, Using those words as a weapon against me, Leaving with every piece of me. How many times, Did I feel like, I have to lose myself, Or I’ll lose you. I’ve found you out, I’ve seen the life you wished to lead. Falling for something that wasn’t real, I fell into your arms time after time. Tender is the night, With wine and a fragile mind, Left broken. You did it and you don’t even know. Had this been a film or a novel, Our story would have been after the syrupy end. We’ve had three endings so far after all. Yet you’ve still left me with unspoken words. I know just what it takes, To live again, But I’m still in my loop, Of whys and could have beens. So it’s getting harder. It’s not. It’s getting harder. It’s not.
