so many do not; that saddens me

there is a reason i called you tonight
i was thinking of you today
memories of tears and smiles
the life we shared
it's up and downs, and now here we are
friends on different shores
waiting for life to close the book
i just wanted to say how blessed we are
long down this path
and we are the best of friends
that is why i called
we found where our love belonged
so many do not; that saddens me

Hello Timothy, to me it feels like eavesdropping on a sacred, late-night phone call across a great distance, the kind of conversation where all the old pretense is gone, and only gratitude and deep affection remain. A vulnerable and deeply soulful piece of writing, Timothy. Blessings, Daniel

I am blessed with two such friends. We remember birthdays, other occasions, and I know their favorite flower, candy....you will find them in my poems
