So Horribly Sad

Sifting Through Loss

My dad left this world,
And it kept all his possessions

I'm forced to go through all his belongings
Every box is heartbreaking
The memories are so close

I'm the only child of an only child
My dads life in boxes, I can't believe
I wasn't ready for him to leave
All I can do is stare a the boxes piled

His shoes, his drawings
Everything's here except him
It's so personal
I feel like I'm bleeding tears
I feel so horribly sad

Its a heartbreaking thing that we have to do when we lose a parent - had to clear the house when dad died and mum moved into a care home - made me feel like I'd lost both of them:-( good luck in the contest:-) hugs Jan xx

Tanis, this tugs at the heart strings. It is a gut wrenching thing to do. I can relate. Very well written!
