So Brief

A brief moment
You were
That sliver of hope
Surprising my heart
No matter my plan
His was for You
And although brief
A promise became
My heartstring to God
That now tugs hard
At the thought
You are gone
I'll feel the tug again
in the smiles of my loves
And warmth of his embrace
You softened my soul
Pulled back the thorns
Protecting my vulnerability
Prepared me to Love
With Everything
