Snow Plows, Snow and Highways
Winter has come and snowflakes fly
In winds beyond normality
Creating drifts above one’s head,
Exercising muscles
To get our driveways cleared of snow,
The walkway and our doorways too
Around the house, the shed and all
After the storm has passed.
But, now our government has gone
And lessened hours snowplows can
Be out upon our highways and
Be plowing snow from them.
They say they can save money by
Reducing plowing from snowfalls,
Less gas and labor, maintenance,
But, what about a life?
And what about emergencies
That do occur from time to time,
A pregnancy in ambulance
On highways stuck in snow
Or accident that has to be
Fast treated in a hospital
A hundred miles away, and by,
Our doctors’ skillful hands?
What have our MHAs become
When human life is put below
Gas bills, labor, Machinery,
Saving a buck or two?
You say, “Not so”. I hear you scream
To save your face in front of all.
So, prove it then. Put snow plows back.
Keep highways cleared of snow.
If you will not rescind your plans
And keep our highways clear,
Remember that elections come
And voters don’t forget!
