Snoring in the Sauna

Destiny had been kind to us for a season
we exchanged I love you’s and went our separate ways

The nostalgia for something so wondrous and fair
still astounds me
something different from the memories - and the dry uncontrollable ache of loss

I transmute the pain with ritual:
fresh thyme grown in a pot
on my doorstep
infused in oil
contained in a jar at my feet
and daily performed.

I’ve been searching
in a new place and time
for a different song
I’ve finally got it through my head
I just can’t break it to my heart

I thought I was reading Andrea Dietrich and found myself wondering which contest this was for. I'm glad I caught the icon & first name before I mis-commented!! I enjoyed the thoroughly unique expressions of depth. Truly enjoyed your imagery, it intrigued me enough to read twice. For me, the emotional moods throughout came through. Nice to meet you, ANNE Dietrich. CayCay
