Smile

I'd bare my soul but it's too cold I haven't been warm in a while Although I understand I'm fully dressed Because I wear this smile I trust everyone and no one Conflict assaults my soul One side of me is a prisoner And the other one is on parole I'm torn apart from the inside out Though I appear to be put together I wear wings like I have risen above Yet I'm frayed like a single feather My wounds are hideous but healing Leaving scars that I cannot erase I wear them all on the inside And betray them with my face Shivering under these layers I'm dressed in my usual style Never feeling concealed enough Yet fully dressed with a smile
