Smelling a Dead Rose

She can make anything look more than amazing behind her smile

Guess that’s why she hides the pain so well

Believing she is all alone in the world with no one to save her

She says I know, I know, I know to hide ignorance

Always asking the world why

When the answers reside beneath her pride

Always in her feelings but doesn’t know what she’s feeling

And everyone else is constantly telling her what they know

Trying to help a dying soul with broken hands

Where is the confidence

Does anybody ever know

She says I know you will say you understand but how can you

You haven’t seen the pain in my heart bleeding through my skin

All she wanted was his attention, his eyes looking her way, his hands protecting her, her foot prints left in his mind, and a love with no ceilings

He seemed to want everything else

p.s. she cried her last tear waiting for him to change…
