Slow Bits

Within the rushing world that’s lost to time,
The time to sit and wonder why birds sing,
Or read a book of prose or charming rhyme;
No time to whisper love or simply ring.

Why must our lives be such a saddened waste?
Within the rushing world that’s lost to time,
Our children grow and live in equal haste,
As we ne’er stopped to hear their voices chime.

So take a breath, inhale the fragrant pine,
Before the world has gone and left you to rot!
Within the rushing world that’s lost to time,
We have become fools that should be forgot.

Permit your feet to walk a slower pace,
To feel the Earth beneath, it is no crime,
For life is ours to live, it’s not a race,
Within the rushing world that’s lost to time.
