Sliver of Heaven
Your whisper
of "Goodnight, Sweetheart," as I slowly surrender
to twilight slumber---sliver of heaven!
The sound of your "Good Morning,"
at the break of dawn as Morpheus releases
his hold on me---sliver of heaven!
You, leaping into my arms
and wrapping your legs around my waist.
Your way of welcoming me home---sliver of heaven!
Thoughts and dreams of you
when you're near or far;
no matter what time of the day---sliver of heaven!
Your soft kisses upon my lips
and brow, your loving arms,
warmly enfolding me---sliver of heaven!
The look of sheer love
in your soulful eyes, bewitching me;
penetrating the core of my soul---sliver of heaven!
Your fingertips
tenderly brushing my skin. Ah, the loveliness
of your beautiful smile---sliver of heaven!
Glowing in my heart like the sun,
your dulcet words of "I love you"
as you're leaving my sight---sliver of heaven!
