Sleepless Night

Dread this night the most do I For your face I cannot spy While in this black you cannot see What it is you mean to me Away from me your focus is Willingly drawn for the presence his For all my might, courageous power Slips from me this midnight hour While in bed your pleasantries leap I tear my soul from darkness’ keep For though your affection does not mirror What in me reflects so clear I shall not sleep within this night For jealousy compels my fright Not for his affection gained Nor my lust, its seal maintained But this illusion my mind deprived And these feelings I’m forced to hide For in our days, content, I must appear To be forever a friend that holds you dear
