Sleeping With Her Eyes Open

Her teacher is yapping again. She resents it, it takes away from her nap time. Do you sleep with your eyes open? Her girlfriends ask. Must, she replies. It comes in handy in class.

When I was in the service, there was a trooper who slept with his eyes open. I do not recall his name because we all called him, "Death" as that is how he looked when he slept .....

I remember (long ago) struggling to keep my eyes open for a long-winded teacher, particularly right after lunch. It was a killer.
