Slave To Your Mind

the nights
are long
while darkness
falls from the sky

you call out
to the man
who stole
your confidence

He left you for
dead while
a warrior kills
your soul

fighting a war
of perception
while killing
without blood

enemies not
showing until
your hand goes
in your pocket

shooting your
heart while
seeing reflections
of yourself

never seeing
help when
it’s there in
front of you

burning the cross
and watching
the moon turn
into the sun

believing
no one
can
help you

imagination
wild with
no where
to go

no love
no self
believing what
they tell you

you are
my friend
a slave to
your mind
