Skylark
Skylark spread your wings
Pull yourself up from the ground
Trust in the currents
One foot can lift you
Out to meet the starry night
Release yourself soon
Energy is faint
Yet the heart beats with power
We can not lift you
Find the quickening
Chance to take your maiden flight
You will remember
Flying is in you
You have been at rest so long
Take this one last flight
We will all watch you
Cheering through our tears and fears
Imprinting the sight
Sooner than we think
We will have to take our flights
Risking the journey
Waving our hands high
Reaching for the clouds above
Hoping for entry
Greeters are waiting
With open arms and smiling
Relief on their end
The world is troubled
Peace must live somewhere we hope
You are needed there
We all must let go
If we hold you too closely
You'll not make your flight
Skylark sing your song
The melody resonates
Through the summer air
