For Ink Empresses contest Roses or Fireflies
Silver souls melting like lava red hot
Cremated by lost lover’s cranberry heart
Passion fashioned by Cupid and the breeze
Death came too soon taking blue fantasy
Was sleep walking through land of sands
Hoping only to see familiar face again
For love never dies despite tears in eyes
Have to find your spirit desperately I try
It feels real like I reunite with your soul
Love is a parachute I use to fall and float
All the other angels have bold gold halos
When I see you you stand out and I know
Your beautiful heart is calling out to mine
And in this sandy park is a sea of fireflies
That glow in onyx sky reflected in your eyes
Seeing them above you casting ethereal light
Words wither here like water colored clouds
I have much to say dear but can’t somehow
I’m sorry I disturbed you from your peace
Wishing you to leave your cocoon to come back to me
I know you are happy I feel it in this space
That somehow we were allowed this moment of faith
I was sad but now I understand my duty to you
I must rise like a firefly and keep alive our love so true
One long embrace in this sandy land
One last look of your face touch of hand
I understand now you visit me in denim dreams
And I awake with such a peace inside like stream
