Writing poetry like this can be a little risky, as it is seldom read enough and studied enough to see it for what the poet intends to say. On Facebook, I made it even more risky by putting a photograph of Adolf Hitler and a Swastika with it. I sort of hate it that what came out was the name of Slovenia, but this is how it came out and so I did not change it. Slovenia is indeed a wonderful and beautiful nation, but in the dark of the ŠKOCJAN CAVES is still hidden the world of death and hate that sadly, the world will witness again. God save us from ourselves.
ŠKOCJAN CATFISH
In such a fresh and Springtime morning rain,
all melting snow drips slowly in the dark
of secret caves, a world of hidden pain
where hides the sin of time's eternal mark.
There's chiseled Swastikas as yet unseen
their twisted lines drawn from all human greed,
awaiting time, where hope has never been;
their gift of light becomes their only need.
this is Slovenia, known to no one's eyes.
where swim the blind of waters as they grow,
their life devoid of sight, and hearing lies,
where dark is all of life they ever know.
Here waits the march of death, the way of man
still deaf and blind and waiting for a plan.
