Sixteen People Offer To Help

I can do this I say for it is usually true.
Not this time though.
Sixteen people offer to help.
They cannot do it either.

Are all these parts from the same computer? One asks.
A snotty question but we are all wasting our morning.
Not sure, I admit.
They tore down sixty computers yesterday.
I grabbed what I thought I needed.

Weird for me since I am in no way a computer genius.
The fourth girlfriend that helped me grab the stuff
Pretended to know which stuff I needed.
I am no longer sure her overconfidence was truthful.

In desperation I called my
"Who do you call" super hero guy.
My husband drove over, a thirty-six minute drive.
He brought extra pieces and cords.

Played with in for about a half an hour.
Dragged the CPU home to “fix”.
It looks like it now works.
If I plug the right things into the right places.

I am kidding no one.
He will bring it back and hook it up.
There is no other way.

I wouldn’t have a clue where to start. Now where did I put that “rocker switch”?

We spend a lot of time taking care of the computers that allow us to do so much. Sometimes, it seems like we are taking care of them more than we are using them. Your poem is a clear reflection of how many of us are now spending time. Thanks for sharing!

I am so irritated when I think it looks easy but it is not. The older computer designers were not savvy enough to color coordinate the pieces and their cords.

My computer is showing its age – like me. I'm hoping to get a new one ASAP. Like you, Caren, I'm no computer guru, even though I worked with them for almost 40 years! They're great when they work, hell when they don't, and costly to fix besides! Hope hubby fixes yours. / M

My husband has discovered that it is wiser to buy a new one from Tiger Direct (no I do not have any shares in the company) than to pay for repairing an old computer. Hint. Hint.
