Six Years Ago Today

Six years ago today I waved goodbye,
Trying so hard not to cry.
But the tears just started to flow,
As I stood there, watching you go.

Just like you did when I was just a kid;
I'm so sorry for whatever it is I did
That made you hate me so much you couldn't stand
To be around me and hold my hand.

I just wanted you to be there for me,
I don't know why you couldn't see.
It hurt me when you didn't call.
Did you even miss me at all?

I missed out on so much not having you here;
You didn't have to deal with a single tear.
I cried so much when you went away;
I still don't understand why you couldn't stay.

Six years ago today is a day I will never forget.
I hope someday you will look back and regret
That you left without a single trace,
And someone else has taken your place.
