Sitting On the Front Porch
Me and two old men
one black the other white
sitting on the front porch
along with Jesus
dippin and sippin wine
contemplating the seeds sewn
with Peter, James and John
and the coming day we'll see the great white throne...
Once there they will tell
the Good Lord all they troubles
when they get to kingdom come
all they lives
they walked a hundred miles of bad road
the world no friend to them
their day will come
after all God delivered Daniel
and Jonah knew how to swim...
One looked at the other and said
I told my woman last night
I was about to sleep so good
darling share those covers
with me if you could
You know I'm approaching sixty-nine
that's a long jumpy time
to be a rollin and not lose your mind...
