Sitting In the Park
Twas I who sat in darkness that night
As the angel of death came by
He took a seat next to me
And let out a small sigh
Tis summer’s way I see dear fellow
He casually said to me
I wait because I’m summoned here
It’s my job you see
My heart skipped a few times
As my eyes blinked in dismay
Who are you calling upon tonight?
Was what I wanted to say
But words just wouldn’t form inside
And thoughts just vanished fast
Is it me he’s after I wondered?
My mind rushed very fast
For somewhere close to an hour
We both sat there in the dark
He then faced me with a chuckle and said
“I’m just here waiting for my son in the park”
