Sister of the Himalayas

Sister of the Himalayas, lovely in repose
A gentle dusting of snow cannot squelch her beauty
Her song is silent, she mesmerizes pilots,
Others may not recognize her, seeing a different mountain

We fly over, taking photos, there are awes and ahhhhhhs
We recognize her sweet tranquility for what it is
She is the queen of the range, ruling in her gorgeous slumber
Sh Someone says, wanting to capture her ambiance

Sister of the Himalayas, you have no conscious awareness
Of your influence on men and women in the sky
We travel past, looking out windows of paper airplanes
Doing our best to let you sleep

It must be the feeling I had flying over the Alps for the first time. Breath-takenly beautiful and inspiring.

The photo that went along with this looked like a fair maiden sleeping on her side - the mountain range.
