Sir Confidence

Like a medieval knight of Great Britain,
In full enclosure , armour and arms
Confidence begins to move and gain
Strength, valour and chivalrous norms,
Riding in trot set , if not in conceit
Robust and resolute , never to yield
Doth deny , overthrow and openly defeat
Anything abject and offensive to the shield,
To defend Reason and goodwill frail
Against vile temptation is the soul intent,
Or to encounter some stinging tail
With an enticing mouth ,and venom latent;
Will Chance let things have their own way
Or intervene , mock and belittle the sway?
