SIPPING COFFEE

Line of inquiry:

“God within me is the enjoyer of the aroma
As also this dopamine boosting flavour I taste
I surrender all pleasures to the dweller of my heart
Breath by breath thus that my soul presence be chaste”

SIPPING COFFEE

Mmm…I savor the new day, every day, the cup of life I’ve been blessed with and I rest with. The warmth that spreads from lips to tongue to chest. My heart tastes the fruitful beans, crushed with testing and pain, that brings out the flavor of shared experiences, which soulful eyes reach and touch one another, to comfort.

When we fully share, down to the last sip, we let go and find pleasures that go beyond our wildest dreams.

How do we let go? We must meditate on truth. Our honesty will clear the fog from our eyes. We breathe our lies, with coffee breath, until otherwise we read between the lies.

Our dove-white handkerchief wipes the smile off our pretty faces, wipes away our shame and disgraces. Did we say grace? Did we show grace? Time and time again we scrub away the grinds.

When I have nothing to hide, I can lean in and lend an ear to a friend. I am that certain age, where the boiled water of my kettle doesn’t steam out the corner of my eyes. I wear no disguise. I am not bitter, free of acid; I go down like an elixir. I share this dopamine booster and hear “aha…aha…mmm!” Those moments are sweet. I live precariously through my young friend and delight where she is headed, into the light.

I am not the cure. It is God within me.

As I sip my 1/2 teaspoon of decaf coffee and read your work, I wonder how we got to be a nation running on caffeine? ROTFL..Great job explaining it. We love the taste, aroma, and the sweets that go alongside it. Thanks for sharing your work with us and it reads like a good contender for the contest to me. Way to go. Sara K

Truly profound, Kim. I like the way you started 'simply,' 'sipping coffee,' and finish by 'heading into the light.' Excelsior, gw

I think this is exactly what the sponsor will want to see. I don't even like the taste of coffee. I wish he wanted us to write about popcorn! Anyway, very nicely done , Kim
