Sinking Sand

caution would be
funny at this time-
with my nose
runny, with the
mind i can't find.
but still, i feel
compelled to not
blink, not think,
not stop my
trembling hands.
i go swimming
in sinking sand,
hiding from the
sun's bright &
glaring eyes.
lower & lower,
no end is sight.
