Single Parent

I am all woman,
yet I am strong
because I've had to be.
Little did I know
that fate would
deal me a blow
and leave me alone
to raise my family.

Now don't be mistaken,
I welcomed my fate.
So I could raise my family
with nothing but love
and eradicate
the hate.

My duties are nearly over,
I feel I did succeed,
I provided
all the love and care
and all
they would ever need.

My children,
now young adults
are intelligent and polite,
as difficult as those years were,
I think I got it right.

Very nice Jenny. I am also a single mother that has her last child graduating High School in 5 days. It has been a long 18 years with many ups and a few downs but I wouldn't change a thing. You put into words what I could not. Bless you.
