PLEASE! Drink of this cup of water and cleanse your
vocal chords
Clear your airways and pull from within a ballad of
true discord
Nothing fancy, soft, or melodious for me
Hey! Just sing the 'ole blues' that you see
Yes! Go straight to the point and
make it plain
No! No sunshine for me, just the sound
of lingering rain
Sing to me! Sing a tune that I can relate to.
Please! Sing it clearly; you know I'd do the
same for you
Sing to me! Not fast but very slow
Please! Just sing the truth; it doesn't
even have to flow
Sing to me! Yes, sing in that deep, old
melancholic tone
Oh! And will you please play? Yes!
Play 'til that old guitar and piano moan
Like an unforgettable spiritual from
the soul
a bitter tear here and a sweet tear there, just
make me lose control
