Sing For the Dead

Sing songs for the dead Because they're never truly forgotten Weep for the bloodstained rose And the cracked tombstone The dead are at peace But the living remain burdened Forever Just sing songs for the dead For in memory We truly live Forever Sing sonnets for the dead Because death is an everlasting nocturne A torn page, crumpled and torn Shredded around a lonely wedding ring The dead have no use for romance But the surviving lovers remain burdened Forever Just sing sonnets for the dead For in love We truly live Forever Sing hymns for the dead Because death is the pathway to eternity Where wings are granted And our loved ones fly for the first time The dead are in a better place But the living remain stuck on Earth But not forever Just sing hymns for the dead For in death we reunite And we truly live Forever
