Since I Am Alive

Since I do have both eyes
Let me admire the world:
Its lines, lights and colors.
I will watch over the world leaders,
How did they come into power?
Find out the fate of their followers!

Since I do have a mouth
Let me eat and speak out.
I will talk about the leader’s corruption;
Compare with the people’s living condition!

Since I do have both ears
Let me hear the human and nature songs.
I will heed the leader’s dictating;
Listen to people’s weeping and tearing!

Since I am Alive
I wish to watch, to talk and to listen;
I want to savor freedom and human rights.
Let me choose the leader that I delight!

Yes, the voice of someone who appreciates democracy. I would like to see more like this. But then I am a political poet.

Really enjoyed this poem.I think more than anything, reading the words “since I have both eyes, since I have ears, since I do have a mouth and since I am alive”, has really shed some light on truly how privileged we are; it’s just so sad how we misuse our privilege.

Like this a lot. Sad but true. It is always the people who suffer.
