Simple Times 2
simple times
It's a cold July night
Tucked in bed quite alright
I'm all grown up now so we stopped
saying good night
Starring at a picture, it's me
But looking in the mirror
I see......... hello stranger
My heart's aching
For simple times
When it was easier to write poems with rhymes
I hated the world then
Didn't know, I would grow up
and learn to hate it more
My heart's aching
For simple times
Before grey entered the scene
And suddenly yellow my favorite
color seemed obscene
When I could laugh out loud loud
stretch those lips, that smile quite large
That youth so wild
Friday afternoons, pretend
the guava trees were pirate ships
Land locked but we sailed the 7 seas
My heart's aching for
simple times
When the faith was easier
And hope much cheaper
Simple times when I could be an inventor
My teacher asked:
Make what, your people?
They were simple times
I hated the world then
But I remember hating it less
