Simone Legree: Anima
Frowning at my desires, and the knowledge I acquire.
Disguising them as shame, pain, and misery.
Scorning me in front of company, but he lives with me.
His lashes wait for me to surface from the dark corners that harbor me.
With him I'm on a leash, in the dark I find peace.
We share the same space, even the same face, but he is far from I.
My ego is like a slave master and I wonder why...
He says we can be anyone we want to be, anyone but myself.
Why do I see freedom in rebellion? Society can't be good for my health.
