Silhouette
At one point, I thought I knew,
Looking in your eyes I thought I knew you,
It blew my mind, the thoughts you shared,
It hit me hard, I almost fell off my chair,
I wanted to know more, I wanted to understand,
How in the world my heart felt so connected to this man,
Every time you spoke, it was more and more,
It became overwhelming, my heart was floored,
It was like listening to my own mind speak,
I was seeing myself with every heart beat,
It pushed me towards you, and pulled me away,
If I opened my mouth to speak, I wouldn't know what to say,
With absence and time I understood why,
Sometimes it's hard to look into our own eyes,
To see ourselves as we truly are,
Self reflection can be raw and hard,
It means getting alone with God to see,
Who am I, is this really me?,
It's opened eyes in a closed off world,
The window to my soul that needed to be stirred,
To take off the mask that was suffocating me inside,
You were truly the silhouette of my heart and my eyes.
