Silently, She Lies There

Silently, she lies there fast asleep
While insomnia makes love to me
Up her torso the nightdress creeps
Exposing her naked skin to see

I dare not wake her with wet lips
Pressed against her tempting flesh
But I do adjust the covers a little bit
To display her perfect breasts

I have been admiring her for several hours
My eyes have adjusted to the absent light
Each passing minute weakens my powers
To let her peacefully pass through the night

She rolls over and brushes against me
My resolve is losing its grip
Lightly, I explore her caressingly
Arousing my fingertips

I will leave it up to your imagination
To finish how the remaining night went
Just know at the morning's destination
My mind and body were totally spent

This poem has it all! Imagination, intrigue, lust, sensuality, temptation, satisfaction! I loved it!

yes, in a sense you got my meaning, My religion teaches that we were spirits in heaven before we came here to get our bodies and be tested to go back home. I hope people can get that the trees represent our spiritual leaders along the path! Now I will find another poem of yours to read.

Joe-This really is steamy! Like Nikko, I love how you took insomnia to a new level and you had me engaged from line two and kept my attention until when I too, was spent :) The only suggestion I would have is if you could say "I will leave it up to your imagination" in another way instead of being so literal. Maybe leave it ambiguous and not bring 'us' into it (if you want an example soupmail me and I will provide my suggestion). Otherwise it is truly excellent IMHO.

Well my, my, Joe-- no wonder you wanted this read! I love what you say in your 2nd line here and took it from there-- what a very sensual way to approach insomnia, and okidoki, thank you for giving us the freedom with our imaginations with this one-- suffice to say that this got me smiling :)

Eroticism is not exactly my "cup of tea" to read unless of course it was written for my private viewing. Perhaps I'm a little uptight but I feel I am a voyer looking in on a private moment. Though you did handle this one well with a blend of imagery and sensuality. It flowed smoothly down the page and of course had senses stirring as I'm thinking is the point of such poetry. Over all, a good poem. Enjoyed while blushing lol

Joe very sensuous write, good imagery, I personally would have prefered it if you had taken it just a little further (without it dipping into porno) ( did she wake at your first touch?)which would have taken into the electrifying stage, that is just my opinion as a poet, not as a male, still enjoyed it though..David
