Silent Witness
For few fleeting moments after I died
Brain activity remained undeterred
Though my knowing now of what I heard
Seems redundant in my current reside
Heartbeat swapped with footsteps leaving
My temperature drops and we are alone
Death prompts my body to stiffen on its own
A good response to your false grieving
Blood settles inside as I discolour
My muscles relax as you confess
No one can hear, no need to be nervous
Anger ceasing as brain waves get duller
I fade away, along with all your stress
See you at the funeral. Enjoy the service
