Silent Night

Everyone is fast asleep; the house is still... The clock ticks relentlessly, deafeningly loud The dishwasher gurgles, gurgles, and gurgles and There's the buzz of a fluorescent light, of a thousand bees The heat goes on; it scratches its ways through the vents A radio's on somewhere, the news forever stuck in spin cycle OMG! WHAT was THAT? Oh, it was only the phone rang... It frightened me so.

It is odd how noisy "still" can be. And then the strangeness of the phone ringing breaking the "silence." You've got me noticing all the little ticks and hums that is the white noise of my life...

...Kind of like the crickets and the frogs out in the country, you know, only a lot more irritating... :) gw

A phone ringing in the evening frightens everyone so, until they see it is a telemarketer, and then they laugh. Right? I thought my dog-ears were the only ones that pick up the annoying buzzing of the flourescent lights - a noise I detest!
