Notes About The Poem

SILENT LETTERS OF THE QUIET GLEN

In autumn’s hush of silver light,
the silent letters woke at night~
a tiny gnome with lantern bright
led all his friends in soft delight.

They tiptoed down the moonlit aisle,
each wearing magic, each in style~
a salmon cloak, a muscle vine,
a subtle spell of quiet shine.

Through forests where the night scene did gleam,
they wandered like a whispered dream,
and a dinner receipt fluttered in the air
its silent p beyond repair.

Doubt rode by a beige leaf,
a shy companion, small and brief,
while moonlight kept watch from overhead
and warmed the path the silent travelers tread.

They reached the castle made of mist,
where stars and shadows coexist,
and glistening, they danced along a path of stone
to greet each letter, one by one.

The gnome proclaimed, “Let us play~
for quiet hearts deserve a day!”
So through the silver-shimmered air
they danced a spell of laughter there.

And should you wander near their quiet glen,
you just might meet them once again~
listen for their hush like feathers soft and fleet,
a whispered wonder at your feet.

I really like the narrative take on this contest prompt. A great job when you can meet the prompt and simultaneously make me forget that there was one. Great poem!
