Silent Abuse
Please explain to me why those beatings survived,
Remembering the fear and terror in their eyes,
And being a child there was nothing I could do,
Except taught him towards me instead of you,
Even the church people sat in number and watched the horror of his abuse,
They sat and did nothing and just watched from the pews,
I thought at least one would stand up or call the police,
Yet they all turned their heads from my brothers and sister and me,
As if they didn't see the violence of a 5 year old being thrown up against a wall,
And dragged down the aisle in front of them all,
Those days haunt me and that was the day,
I lost faith in the church and some of they're phony ways,
I thought how could they preach love and do nothing at all,
And just ignore all the abuse of a child they just saw,
After that I vowed to God in silence that I would fight like hell,
That I would become just the opposite and protect my children as well,
All it took was the ignorance of a congregation who decided to turn a blind eye,
That ignited my heart to stand against even the crowd and changed my entire life,
