Silence, She Keeps Me Awake

Silence.
Silence, she keeps me awake with words unspoken,
Yet the voice does not go unheard.
A distinct patter sounds in my gut,
A shot ringing in the empty confines where words don't exist.
Words don't exist.
Made up to explain the thoughts and feelings that burn within,
Yet made up to hide the thoughts and feelings the same.
Stripped bare, emptiness allows truth to echo within.
The ping and the patter,
The shot in the gut,
The words unspoken ring like a round in a rut.
