Notes About The Poem

The Waltz Wave is an invented form by Margaret Carlisle, named for Leo Waltz, the Web Manager of Sol Magazine. The words may be split into natural syllables, ie, include hyphens, to fit the pattern. The topics chosen for this form should, with their euphonious phrases, reflect tranquillity. Normal grammar rules apply. It is a one-stanza titled poem with nineteen lines, and presented flush left on the page. The syllable format: 1-2-1-2-3-2-1-2-3-4-3-2-1-2-3-2-1-2-1.

Waves
slouching
soft
against
the quayside.
My thoughts
stilled;
at peace.
Sky devoid
of seagulls; clouds
contrast with

horizon
