when did we stop. how did your open face close its door... it was alive before                    why does your back                    say more                    than determined                    silence on closed lips        tweed fishbone pattern        second skin, defensively        crafted around        dismissive gestures                          where did we halt              increasing pace                                      did we displace                what once was harmony? *** May 25, 2017 Copyright © Darren White

Experiencing dis-harmony is more than painful. A cliche maybe, but how else would we know what harmony is...

I absolutely agree. And it is painful.

Sad isn't it when this happens, happily not in my case but many friends around me, when silence hits a relationship. Brilliant Dear Darren..... Maria 7+

That "dismissive gestures" line really said it all for me. Such an unhappy write, but well put.

The silent treatment can be very loud. Well depicted Darren and I'm glad it isn't about you :)

Indeed, and it's a very hurtful thing to do to others... Thanks Lenna.

This reminds me of a song I have fallen in love with recently (tell me how-paramore) that decribes this situation very well, "of all the weapons you fight with, your silence is the most violent" A dark and beautiful write! Love, Juli-Michelle

It indeed is. Silence is violent. Thank you that you like my poem :)

I can really feel this one. For me the silent treatment is almost unbearable.

Watching them walk away is heartbreaking...such sadness evokes from your pen

Yes, they do, and if you can feel that, I did it right. Only, I didn't want to make you feel sad.

I do indeed see the increasing space grow on the page and the broken harmony as the words seem to come more haltingly (as you use enjambment), but what I love the most are the brilliant images 'determined silence on close lips'. . . it's masterfully done Darren. I love it!:) Amitiés

Sad my friend, something is amiss here and it's not good. Not your poem, it is great but I can feel the displeasure, the worried thoughts and questions as someone is given the silent treatment.

Yes, and that hurts. This is fictive, not about me personally, I tried to see myself in the position of one of both.

Darren, your poem is so we'll done! Your word placement enhances the sense of discord. Hope you have a good morning!
