Silence

Your silences are like stories in a book
The silence of newness
Shy, sweet, hesitant
At first meeting
Searching for the right words
Desperate to connect

The silence of passion
Hot, powerful, yearning
I am wanted
The desire in your eyes
Tells me so

The silence of synchronicity
Warm, comfortable, loving
No words necessary
Your hand over my hand
We are one

The silence of disconnect
Blank, reluctant , secretive
Walls are built
You roll away from me
No kiss goodnight

The silence of goodbye
Sad, lonely, repentant
Closing the door
Nothing more to say
Both hearts breaking
