Silence

There was so much to speak
And so much to listen
Time with you was countable
And eternity left ahead
The smile was soft;
tears still concealed
Silence was heavy
But no one broke it
Words on tip of tongue were never expressed
One tear escaped the cage
And a goodbye was heard without having been said.
