Sidewalk Story

Every family has a story And ours is cast in stone In the corner of the sidewalk Just a few feet from the home Where we once made love With the hopes To find forever But now it's gone to hell Our sidewalk story speaks to me Calling out in disbelief The dated old reminders Of yesterday Two hands of people once in love Who decided that they'd both give up Now I see the painful path That it has paved Signed and dated with a heart Is the love that's Since fell apart The only one that's weathered all our storms Like a funeral it has long since died Caught up in a marriage pyre And like her eyes It's not the only thing that's poured Our sidewalk story speaks to me Calling out in disbelief The dated old reminders Of yesterday Two hands of people once in love Who decided that they'd both give up And I see the painful path That it has paved Now a for sale sign Hides the stone And the grass has all But overgrown The story in the sidewalk Of our once so happy home There's a story in the sidewalk Of so many broken homes
