Side Effects
I put five drugs in my body and washed it down
The psychiatrist was the best in town
But my body was the fourth percent where
side effects hit like a grizzly bear.
I had nightmares, they were a known effect
hearing loss, blunted intellect
Appetite grew, and I became obese
Hands started shaking, couldn't cease.
I took Abilify, but it took the controls
Hypersexuality versus me, a conflict of goals
This had to stop, disease or no
I told the psychiatrist, where his pills could go.
This story isn't true, but the side effects are
You can get all these effects, they leave a scar
You can reverse some, others can't change the clocks
In your body, keys can be made to fit your locks.
Now I'll tell truth: I've taken Zyprexa, Thorazine
Docs tried antidepressants and Imipramine
I had compulsions as a teen, I was called a swine
You wonder how brain chemistry twists a straight line.
Then the plot took an unusual twist
I attracted bad guys, they didn't use a fist
They had drugs of their own, they used it for crime
Nobody would believe this, its irony time.
Irony because I took so much flack
Now I want to warn the public of a kind of attack
But that's hard to do, can't jump that train
When I'm dismissed as a fool or insane.
