Shy of the Moon

I keep having the same old dreams
where waves brake high from violent seas
where wind blows stars out of clear nights
and I drift aimlessly by the shy of the moon

I've read the books to uncover meaning
to end these nightmares and this voiceless screaming
but clear understanding I am not receiving
I go down in the undertow by the shy of the moon

all of my prayers and my beliefs
are not a preserver and won't save me
and while my guardian angel sleeps
I go down for the third time, by the shy of the moon
