Shy

Does being shy encase me
like a boxed barbie doll?
Do I need to be forward
to get anywhere at all?
I close my eyes and
wonder what will it take
for you to realize
that I could be a candidate

just because I'm shy doesn't
mean that I'm scared to date
If anything I fear being left alone
a boxed jewel while the hookers roam
people jest and jilt
as I put my standards higher
than a clown on Stilts
and when I do lower my guard
for those select few
they poke and they damage
until my walls go back up
with peep holes through

I use being shy as a precaution
but it doesn't mean I'm not ready
I hate being encased
so please come get your machete
and cut a way through to me
so we can finally go steady

i really like this poem, i was always terrible with girls, but like you say "it doesn't mean i'm not ready" just that i would have no idea what to say or how to say it. This is a great read
