Shower

I shower at night.

The day is over after my shower.

The laundry never got done.

Neither did the dishes.

But still, I’m done.

I wash myself a few times.

As if that will make me feel better.

The bed is angry and waiting for me.

The bed I never made.

The blankets still tangled from last night’s turning.

The day is over.

The shower is over.

I am numb with exhaustion.

From that shower.

I shower at night.

That’s my routine.
