should we emember

a product of a wish, that didn't happen
During World war2 my mother couldn't cope
cope with three children, and since I was
The youngest, who looked like most people, was sent
to a farm to survive
The farm was near a German garrison, and I was
going in and out there like it was a playground
In the house I lived in, several officers were bil
And often in the evening, there comes together
of Norwegian and Germans
Hard times came when the garrison and its crew
fled, and one morning, soldiers in odd uniforms
stood in the courtyard, arrests were made to
My bewilderment, and there was no time to say
Goodbye to my girlfriend Anna
From a pleasant life to stark poverty took only
a few hours, and remember standing near the
local police station, where angry men came
dragging women, demanding their hair shorn.
When I told my mother that the Germans

Unfitting uniforms and carrying guns were.
She told me not to mention that again because
The Germans were our enemy
