Short of Breath Long In Tooth

Now I am long in the tooth, I have stopped looking for my lost youth I am slowly going blind And I think I may have lost my mind I cannot walk without my walker I would be easy meat for a thief or stalker, They say if you search, you'll find Not if you are lame and blind.

When you stop looking for lost youth, you're certainly long in the tooth. As I've been told, getting old isn't for sissies. This is cute, clever and so creative. Your thoughts bring a smile. Congratulations Shirley, on Poem of the Week. My best to you. :) Hugs, Brandy

When I've lost my mind, it's really hard to find it because I've misplaced my glasses. Because I've lost my mind. I can so relate to all this Shirley... well written! Hang in there, you're not alone. Now where are those glasses? Congrats on POTW ~ John

Thank you for your lovely comments, and congrats on POTW. It was a big surprise and a great start to the day for me. It is so encouraging to read that there are so many of us who are feeling the ravages of time and can be confused and amused by it. John, may I suggest you look in the fridge for your specs as I found mine there not too long ago. Lol! I hope you are having a pleasant day; take care, Old Duck

Thank you, Paula. Nobody could be more pleasantly surprised than me, POTW. The comments I've received warmed my heart and gave me a lift. So glad it made you laugh. There is not much to laugh about these days, is there? Watch out, indeed. I hope you are having a peaceful day. Take care of yourself. Old Duck.

Thank you, Tania, for making time to comment on POTW. It was such a surprise for me. I suppose at the age of 85, I should not complain and manage as well as I can with the bits of me that are still in working order, Lol! I hope you are well and happy; thank you again for reading the poem. Take care, Old Duck

I am solidly in Deb M's camp, a couple of comments down. Wish I could 'pop over' to (cane in hand) for a 'cuppa' and a chat. Well, we gotta work this out somehow. Hang in there, my friend :) gw

You and Deb brought tears of happiness to my eyes. I feel overwhelmed by your understanding and kindness, Gershon; we all reach an age when it takes less time to count the bits of us that still work than those that don't when we have worked out how to share a "cuppa and a chat " together. I will supply the ear crumpets, Fog (cream) horns and bath chairs. Heartfelt thanks for your caring. It has given me the start of a beautiful day. Take care, Shirley

Oh! Deb There are no words that I can say that would be able to explain how I felt when I read your complimentary Comments (Two boxes of tissues later), they made my day even though I think they are underserving. I do not consider myself a poet, and I am an old lady that "writes things.' please read my comments to Gershon, Deb. I am fortunate to have such a caring and encouraging friend as you, and I value that honour. I hope you and Peter have a great weekend full of joy and laughter. Heartfelt thank you, Deb, Take care. Happy Old Duck XX
